Frequently Asked Questions

How will this be different from my previous Microblading experience? It didn’t last!

I’m sorry you had a bad experience of microblading! Every artist has different techniques. The world of cosmetic tattooing has changed immensely even in the past two years. I guarantee what I will do for you will be completely different from your previous service. The ink I use is high-quality and has color correctors built-in, meaning it will keep true to tone as it fades away. I also do completely CUSTOMIZABLE brows. Every brow is different because everyone’s face and bone structure and coloring is different! I make sure your brow fits YOU. If you had a bad tattoo artist, you wouldn’t just stop getting tattoos, you would find a different artist! That is the same in the cosmetic tattoo world. I’m here to answer all of your questions and I can always do a consult if you need a cover-up of an old cosmetic tattoo just pick the rework consultation option. There are multiple reasons why your previous microblading didn’t last— The artist may not have stretched properly, not have gotten the right depth in your skin, used the wrong ink, or maybe you aren’t the right candidate for microblading because your skin is too oily, which means you would just need to get the Velvet brow or the Hybrid brow! There are always options! Come chat with me and I will help.

Is this painful?

There can be pain even after the topical anesthetic has been used. Most people rate it anywhere from a 1/10 up to a 6/10. Anesthetics work better on some people than others. Please let me know if you take longer to numb at the dentist.

Is there risk of infection?

Infection is very unusual, as long as you follow proper aftercare instructions by keeping the areas treated clean. Only freshly cleaned hands should touch the areas. See "After Care" page for instructions on care.

Is there a chance of the pigment healing uneven?

Sometimes, this can result from poor healing, infection, bleeding during procedure or many other causes. Your follow up appointment will likely correct any uneven appearance.

What happens if my brows are not symmetrical?

Every effort will be made to avoid asymmetry but our faces are not symmetrical so adjustments may be needed during the follow-up session to correct any unevenness. But please know that if you have unevenness in your bone structure it may never be 100% perfect.

Will there be swelling or bruising?

Some people bruise and swell more than others. Ice packs may help and the bruising and swelling typically disappears with 1-5 days. Some people don't bruise or swell at all.

Do you numb the area?

Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area to be tattooed. Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Benzocaine, Tetracaine and Epinephrine in a cream or gel form are typically used. If you are allergic to any of these please inform me. If you take longer to numb at the dentist please let me know so I can numb you accordingly.

Can I get an MRI soon after?

Because pigments used in permanent cosmetic procedures can contain iron oxides, (not all of them) a low level magnet may be required if you need to be scanned by an MRI machine. You must inform your technician of any tattoos or permanent cosmetics.

What happens if I have had a cold sore or fever blister in my life?

If you are prone to cold sores or fever blisters (herpes simplex), there is a high probability that you will get them if getting a lip blushing service. It is advised that you call your doctor for a prescription Valtrex to help prevent this from occurring because it will affect the tattoo. Please inform me before the service if you are prone to them. Make sure you wash your treated area separately if you have one present as to not let the cold sore spread.

Could I have an allergic reaction?

Though the pigments I use have never caused an allergic reaction, there is always a small possibility of an allergic reaction. You may take a 5-7 days patch test to determine this if you prefer.

What is normal after getting a procedure?

Swelling itching scabbing light bruising and a dry tight feeling are all normal not everyone has all of this but some can. Ice packs are a nice relief for swelling and bruising. My aftercare balm helps with scabbing and tightness.

Too dark and slightly uneven appearance is completely normal. After 2-7 days the darkness will fade and once swelling dissipates unevenness usually disappears. If they are blotchy or still a bit uneven after 4 weeks then we will make adjustments during the touch up appointment.

Color change your color loss is also completely normal. As the procedure area heals the color will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear. This can all be addressed during the touch up appointment and is why the touch up can be necessary. The procedure area has to be completely healed before we can address any concerns. It takes 6-10 weeks for color to fully bloom.

Will I need a touchup?

Depending on your service a touch up may be needed 1 to 5 years after the initial procedure depending on your skin, medications and sun exposure. We recommend a touch up 6-10 weeks after the first session $150, to finalize and correct anything.

My regular clients get a discount on their annual touchup so it is $350

Paramedical tattoos like body art tattoo will last forever but you could always get a refresh years down the line if you’d like.

What should I know about long term care?
* The pigment color will change and fade over time. We recommend an annual touch up to keep your brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any any aggressive skincare products or services were completed after your procedure.

*When using acidic or brightening skincare products or services (chemical peels, Retin-A, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, etc) please fully cover your brow tattoo with Vaseline, prior to product application on your skin.

* If you are planning to have an MRI, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.

* If you are planning to have laser treatments, you must fully cover your brow tattoo with 20% zinc oxide. Laser may cause pigment prematurely fade or change color.
